Press Red started in 2016 when Michele Hawthorne read Elaine Storkey’s book Scars Across Humanity, and was so moved to act that she gathered a group of volunteers to put on a conference to raise awareness of global and national issues of gender-based violence. Bringing together world-renowned speakers and activists for change, Press Red's first conference was a powerful day of keynote speeches, seminars, Q&A sessions and exhibition spaces.

Today, Press Red continues to work to promote news and campaigns around the issues, encouraging people to stand up to violence against women and girls and make a change.
